This morning, the renowned Goodyear Blimp was spotted soaring over London, having departed from Damyns Hall Aerodrome. This distinctive airship, known globally, has become a staple at various events, including motorsport competitions, the FA Cup Finals, and the Coachella music festival.
Exploring London from Above
During its flight, the blimp traversed several notable areas, including Westminster, Bexleyheath, London Bridge, Bermondsey, Deptford, and Rotherhithe. With a maximum speed of 125 km/h, the airship features a semi-rigid structure built from aluminium and carbon fibre trusses, which house three vectored engines. These technological advancements enhance the blimp’s operational precision and manoeuvrability, enabling it to hover in place and perform take-offs and landings akin to a helicopter.
A Warm Welcome Back
Ben Crawley, the Sales General Manager for Consumer Replacement in Northern Europe, expressed enthusiasm about the blimp’s return to the UK this summer, stating, “The Goodyear Blimp is a recognisable icon worldwide, and we’re thrilled to see it return to the UK this summer.”
