Wedding photographers in London

Wedding photography in London has moved firmly towards documentary storytelling. Many of the city’s photographers now work quietly in the background, from town hall ceremonies and intimate elopements to full-day celebrations, and offer couples consultations, online galleries, film and albums alongside their coverage.

This article brings together a selection of wedding photographers in London: Weddings by Anita, Leanne Gardiner Photography and Helen Abraham Photography. Three photographers with different ways of telling a couple’s story.

Weddings by Anita

Anita Faye works behind the camera under the name Weddings by Anita. The London wedding and portrait photographer describes her approach as documentary with a romantic, artistic touch. She focuses on the natural, unposed moments that tell each couple’s story, and her imagery can be traditionally romantic or editorial, classic in style or cool and edgy.

She traces that approach to a long career as a portrait artist and photographer. As a mother of two young children with a Finnish-Senegalese heritage and a life rooted in London, she brings her own perspective to her work, celebrating the beauty of diverse love stories.

Weddings by Anita is organised around three collections. The Edit offers three hours of coverage, suited to town hall weddings, registry offices and intimate celebrations, and extra hours can be added. The Classic covers the full wedding day, from preparations through to the dance floor. The Signature adds a pre-wedding couple’s portrait session at a hand-selected location, chosen by the couple or recommended by Anita.

Whichever collection a couple chooses, the edited images are delivered through a private online gallery, ready to download and share. Anita also takes portraits, and on her booking page she says she is always happy to talk weddings.

Leanne Gardiner Photography

Leanne Gardiner is a London-based wedding photographer who works across the UK and abroad. Her style is documentary with a refined, modern edge, shaped by a long-standing interest in fashion, and her aim is to capture each wedding as it felt rather than simply how it looked.

Rather than manufacturing moments, she blends into the day and waits for them to happen. She offers gentle direction for portraits so that couples feel comfortable, and organises family photographs without letting them take over the celebration, so the result is a gallery that feels like the wedding itself rather than a photoshoot.

Her collections cover full wedding days, from preparations to the party, as well as elopements and micro weddings with two to four hours of coverage. Couples can add a second photographer, 35mm film or Super 8 footage, and for those who want both stills and moving images she regularly teams up with 4motion Productions to combine documentary photography and film.

The process begins with an enquiry about the couple’s plans. Once a wedding is booked, she and the couple shape the details together, from timelines to locations, and her collections include a pre-wedding Zoom consultation, a next-day preview and a high-resolution online gallery.

Helen Abraham Photography

Helen Abraham is a documentary wedding photographer based in East London who has photographed more than 300 weddings in London, across the UK and abroad. Before turning to weddings she spent a decade working in live events, an experience that taught her how a wedding day is built and where to be when the unexpected moments happen.

Her style is rooted in documentary photography with an editorial sensibility, in a balance of roughly 80 per cent documentary and 20 per cent portraiture. She photographs the day as it unfolds rather than working from a strict shot list, keeps couple portraits to around 15 to 20 minutes and asks only for a short list of family groups.

A typical commission covers around eight hours, from morning preparations to the first dance. She also photographs multi-day celebrations, engagement shoots around London and families, helps couples plan their timeline, coordinates with their planner and, for weddings of more than 100 guests, recommends a second photographer.

Her editing is true to colour, warm and rich. Couples can turn their photographs into fine art albums handcrafted in Yorkshire by Folio Albums, printed on matte fine art paper with leather or fabric covers, and smaller midweek weddings are also part of her work.
