The Environment Agency is actively seeking information regarding an illegal waste site that has been closed down near Hinckley in Leicestershire. This investigation was initiated following the discovery of illegally dumped waste on land adjacent to the A47 Leicester Road on 5 August 2026.

In a swift response, both Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and Leicestershire Police took decisive action to close the site, thereby averting further environmental harm. The Environment Agency is now at the helm of the investigation into this matter.

Suspicious activities may include the sighting of tipper lorries, skip lorries, or articulated lorries accessing abandoned sites or fields. Illegal waste sites have been identified in various locations, including busy thoroughfares near dual carriageways and motorways, as well as on farms and within woodlands.
