The United Kingdom expresses its gratitude to the Fact-Finding Mission for the comprehensive report it has provided. We remain deeply disturbed by the alarming state of human rights within Iran.
The findings highlighting the brutal suppression of peaceful demonstrations that commenced in December, particularly the lethal force employed against individuals who posed no immediate threat—children included—are especially concerning. This crackdown has been recorded as the most deadly in the history of the Islamic Republic.
Concerns Over Human Rights Violations
Iran’s abhorrent practices, including the use of the death penalty, extensive nationwide internet blackouts, and the torture and mistreatment of individuals, along with restrictions on fundamental freedoms, perpetuate a cycle of oppression affecting the Iranian populace.
The report also sheds light on civilian casualties resulting from the conflict in Minab in March 2026 and across the wider region. It is imperative that innocent civilians are never caught in the midst of such violence.
Support for Accountability and Justice
The United Kingdom remains committed to supporting the efforts of the Fact-Finding Mission and the Special Rapporteur. Documenting violations independently is crucial for ensuring accountability, delivering justice for victims and survivors, and preventing future human rights abuses.
We urge the Iranian authorities to cease their repressive measures and to uphold the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all individuals residing in Iran.
