Massive DJ Competition Makes a Comeback in North London with Exciting Free Launch Party

One of the most prestigious DJ competitions in the world is set to make a grand return to a borough in North London this autumn. The DMC World DJ Championships has announced an official launch party, which will take place at the Amphitheatre in Stables Market, Camden, on Sunday, 16th August, from 3pm to 7pm. After 41 illustrious years held in various cities around the globe, the DMC is returning to its roots in London, where it all began.

The event will feature a live performance by world-renowned DMC Champion Cutmaster Swift, alongside UK legend DJ Pogo, with MysDiggi as the host for the afternoon. This exciting gathering does not require any tickets or prior registration; attendees are welcome to simply arrive and celebrate. The launch party signifies the beginning of the countdown to DMC41—the 41st edition of the world’s foremost DJ competition—scheduled to take over venues in Camden from Thursday, 12th November, to Saturday, 14th November.

Celebrating the Legacy of DJ Culture

Tickets for DMC41 are currently available, with prices starting at £22 for DAY ONE and £35.75 for DAY TWO. The DMC World DJ Championships first took place in London in 1985, and over the past four decades, it has played a pivotal role in uncovering new talent and shaping the evolution of DJ culture. From New York to Tokyo, Paris to San Francisco, the DMC has become the ultimate platform for turntablism—transforming unknown bedroom DJs into world champions and future icons who carve their names into the annals of music history.

As DMC41 approaches, Camden is poised to become the epicentre of DJ culture, hosting three days of unparalleled competition, legendary performances, and a celebration of the DJ’s craft at its highest level.

A Celebration of Music and Community

The August launch party promises an afternoon filled with an eclectic mix of hip hop, funk, disco, soul, and exceptional turntablism. It is a free event open to all, with no tickets or advance registration necessary. Guests can simply walk into the Amphitheatre at Camden Market and join in the festivities starting at 3pm. Throughout the day, attendees will also have the opportunity to grab free DMC merchandise, vinyl records, slipmats, and exclusive giveaways.
