16-Year-Old Charged with Murder Following Stabbing Incident at Skate Park; Three Others Arrested

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the tragic stabbing of a teenager at a skate park in Luton. This incident, which occurred on the evening of 24 July, has also led to the arrest of three additional teenagers as part of an ongoing investigation.

Bedfordshire Police responded to reports of violent disorder at Kingsway Recreation Ground around 6:30 PM. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Arrests Made Following the Incident

In connection with the investigation, three 17-year-old boys were apprehended over the weekend on suspicion of murder, violent disorder, and possession of a weapon. Additionally, the 16-year-old suspect arrested on Friday has been formally charged with murder and is currently remanded in custody. Another 17-year-old, who was also arrested on Friday and was receiving treatment for serious injuries, is now in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener stated, “We are making progress with our investigation and continue to appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity or witnessed the events leading up to the disorder to come forward.” He emphasised the importance of community engagement, as officers are conducting high-visibility patrols in the area.
