The Meadow Croft Garden Centre in Wickford, Essex, will open its wintry gates for the Christmas market from 10th September until 23rd December. This enchanting fair has been a beloved fixture for over a decade and is recognised as one of the nation’s earliest Christmas markets.

Each year, the Meadow Croft Christmas market expands, continually enhancing its offerings to attract a wider audience. Entry to the market is free, and it welcomes guests seven days a week from early September.

Customers can find an assortment of treasures, including intricately carved wooden ornaments, exquisite glassware, classic cuckoo clocks, and ornate baubles to elegantly adorn their Christmas trees.

The garden centre team makes an annual pilgrimage to Germany each winter, seeking inspiration from the latest trends in Christmas markets to enrich their event with new crafts and features. In addition to the stunning stalls, food offerings include traditional German bratwurst and hearty festive dishes, complemented by homemade German-style lagers served in cheerful tankards, creating an inviting atmosphere for all.

While entry to the market is complimentary, some activities do require a fee, such as Bavarian curling, which is priced at £10 per game. In a bid to cater to the evening crowd, the market will feature late-night openings every Thursday from 13th November for five weeks leading up to Christmas, providing an additional opportunity for festive enjoyment.
