Murder Investigation Underway After Stabbing Death of Man in His 20s Near Hackney School

A murder investigation has been initiated following the fatal stabbing of a man in his twenties near a school in East London. Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene on Downs Park Road in Hackney at 1:42 PM on Monday, July 13. Unfortunately, despite the prompt response from the London Ambulance Service, a man in his late twenties succumbed to his injuries at the location. His next of kin has been notified.

While a murder investigation is underway, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made at this preliminary stage. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, from the Specialist Crime Command, stated, “Our investigation remains in the early stages, and officers are working diligently to identify those responsible.” He further noted that police presence in the area would continue overnight as inquiries progress, urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.

Incident Occurring in Broad Daylight

The incident reportedly transpired in broad daylight near the Mossbourne Community Academy, a secondary school and sixth form, as well as Hackney Downs Park. Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke highlighted the ongoing significant police presence in the vicinity. She expressed understanding regarding the concerns of local residents, stating, “We acknowledge that this incident occurred close to a school during daylight hours, which will understandably cause alarm in the community.”

However, Detective Chief Superintendent Clarke reassured the public by indicating that there is no belief that any students from the school were involved, labelling the event as an isolated incident. “We will continue to update the community as more information becomes available,” she added.
