Tragic Death of 7-Year-Old Follows Drowning Incident Involving Mother and Daughter from East London in Essex

A seven-year-old boy has tragically passed away following an incident at West Mersea Beach last week, which also claimed the lives of his teenage cousin and her mother, as confirmed by Essex Police. Musa Ahmed, alongside 15-year-old Sameeha Rahman and her mother Shelina Rahman, 41, found themselves in distress while in the water with three other family members on 22nd July.

Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher, who is leading the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, expressed the heartfelt condolences of the police force. “All our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved – as has been the case since this incident took place last week. Essex Police had received a call from the ambulance service at 5:35 PM on 22nd July regarding reports of individuals in distress in the water near Seaview Avenue. The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that one patient was airlifted and three others were transported by road for medical attention following the incident at Sea View Holiday Park.

Musa’s father, Shahin Ahmed, made a public appeal on Monday, urging for a thorough review of safety measures at West Mersea Beach. “I strongly agree with the calls from local residents for a review of safety measures at West Mersea Beach, including the provision of additional life-saving equipment and clear warning signage,” he stated. “While no action now can undo the pain we are suffering, we hope lessons can be learned to help prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future.”
