South London Pub Implements Under 21 Ban Following String of Disturbances

A pub in South London has announced that it will no longer permit entry to anyone under the age of 21. The Shortlands Tavern, located in Bromley, revealed this significant policy change will take effect from today, following a number of unspecified incidents involving younger patrons. The management team stated that this decision aims to preserve the relaxed, safe, and welcoming environment that they believe most of their customers appreciate.

New Age Restrictions Implemented

The Shortlands Tavern, situated on Station Road near Shortlands station, has implemented this new age restriction in response to concerns about the behaviour of younger customers. In a message shared on Instagram, the establishment informed the public: “SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. From Monday 27th July, we will be operating as an over-21s venue following a series of incidents involving younger customers. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause.” The pub also specified that anyone under the age of 21 must vacate the premises, including the beer garden, by 8:00pm.

The tavern operates seven days a week, welcoming guests from noon until 11:30pm from Monday to Thursday, and remaining open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, it opens at noon and closes at 11:00pm. The management aims to maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all patrons, which they feel this new policy will help achieve.

Customer Reviews Highlight Popular Offerings

The Shortlands Tavern enjoys a commendable average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google Reviews, with many patrons praising its diverse menu. Diners can indulge in a variety of dishes, including pizzas, Sunday roasts, burgers, and tacos. The favourable reviews reflect a strong customer satisfaction, with one guest commenting, “I had the pizza along with three others in our party. When they arrived they were quite large but oh so delicious! Others in our party had the roast chicken and the pulled pork. It was very filling and had a massive Yorkshire pudding. We also had some chicken strips which were really nice. This place is dog friendly.”
