Revised Deadline Announced for 2025 Packaging Data Resubmission

PackUK, representing the four nations of the United Kingdom, has announced a new resubmission deadline of 1 September 2026 for packaging data submissions related to the 2025 fiscal year. This deadline specifically pertains to producers who are liable to pay fees under the packaging extended producer responsibility (pEPR) regulations.

The introduction of this 1 September deadline provides producers with a five-month period, commencing from the 1 April reporting deadline, during which they can rectify any inaccuracies in their packaging data and resubmit it accordingly. This initiative is designed to facilitate the publication of fees and Notices of Liability later this year, without necessitating additional recalculations or modifications.

Implications for Fees and Notices of Liability

Following the 1 September deadline, regulatory bodies will persist in their compliance monitoring efforts. Utilising the data collected, PackUK will subsequently publish confirmed producer fees for the 2026/27 period and issue Notices of Liability later this calendar year. It is important to note that any data resubmissions made after this date will not influence the Notices of Liability or disposal fees.

In December 2025, PackUK released illustrative fees for Year 2; however, these figures may be subject to alteration based on the final data resubmissions. It is intended that no further illustrative fees will be issued. The fees confirmed later this year will serve as the definitive figures for Year 2 of the scheme and will be utilised for the calculation of Notices of Liability.

Similar to Year 1, producers will be afforded 50 calendar days to settle their fees, with the option to pay in instalments should they choose to do so.

Steps for Producers Required to Pay pEPR Fees

Producers are urged to take immediate action by ensuring that their 2025 packaging data is resubmitted by the 1 September 2026 deadline, particularly if corrections are necessary.

It is imperative to underscore that data resubmissions made after the 1 September deadline will not impact the Notices of Liability or the corresponding disposal fees.

Nevertheless, producers are encouraged to continue resubmitting their data post-deadline to maintain accuracy in meeting their recycling obligations.
