PackUK has announced the release of the latest iteration of the Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM) on 1 July 2026, following extensive consultation within the industry. Known as RAM 2027, this updated framework will be essential for producers to evaluate the recyclability of household packaging that will enter the market in 2027, in accordance with the Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR) scheme.
The results of the RAM assessments will categorise packaging into red, amber, or green ratings. These ratings are crucial as they influence fee modulation and facilitate the shift towards a more circular packaging system.

Building on version 1.1, which was introduced in April 2025, RAM 2027 is the result of comprehensive engagement with stakeholders, including producers, trade associations, and technical experts.
