Multiple Injuries Reported as Police Respond to Major Incident at Ghana Party in the Park Festival

Authorities were summoned to a cultural festival in London on Saturday evening following reports of multiple injuries among attendees. The Ghana Party in the Park, hosted in Barnet, was ‘temporarily paused’ late on August 1 as the Metropolitan Police intervened to address an issue of overcrowding at the event.

The police have confirmed that the injuries sustained by several individuals are not life-threatening. In light of the situation, they have urged the public to refrain from speculation, stating that claims regarding a stabbing are unfounded.

Overcrowding Leads to Emergency Response

As the evening unfolded, the event at Copthall Playing Fields was cancelled due to safety concerns arising from an overcrowded entrance. A spokesperson for the Met Police in Barnet stated, “Officers are currently on-site to manage the situation. The Ghana Party in the Park has been paused after several attendees sustained non-life threatening injuries due to the overcrowding. We ask the public to avoid the area.”

Event organisers took to social media to inform attendees of the situation, stating: “Due to a major incident at the festival site, the event has been temporarily paused. We kindly request that you do not travel to or visit the festival location until further notice.”

Emergency Services Responding to the Situation

The statement from organisers emphasised that emergency services and relevant authorities are actively managing the incident. They also requested that the public stay clear of the area to facilitate the ongoing response efforts. “We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
