Upcoming Heatwave Set to Affect London

A new heatwave is poised to strike London next week, bringing temperatures that will once again soar beyond 30°C. The current heatwave, which has persisted for approximately 20 days, is expected to see a slight dip in temperatures from Sunday, July 26, before rising once more in the days that follow. The United Kingdom is experiencing one of its longest stretches of hot and dry weather on record, prompting widespread warnings for wildfires as the country endures weeks without significant rainfall.

Meanwhile, wildfires are wreaking havoc across various regions, including the Rhinogydd mountains in North Wales and Blaenavon in South Wales, where blazes have devastated around 220 hectares. Recent days have also seen fires affecting heathland on the Isle of Wight, woodlands in the New Forest, and fields in Tadley, Hampshire. In southern France and central Spain, catastrophic forest fires have led to the evacuation of approximately 200,000 people as flames continue to rage uncontrollably. Firefighters in Spain have acknowledged the severity of the situation, stating that the fires have been so rapid and intense that they cannot be addressed directly.
