Live Updates: Stanmore Flooding Causes Disruption to Three Bus Routes Due to Burst Water Main

A significant water main burst has resulted in extensive flooding in parts of Stanmore this morning, leading to considerable disruption in the vicinity of the A41. As a precaution, Spur Road is currently closed to eastbound traffic between A5 Stonegrove and Edgware Way while engineering teams from Affinity Water work diligently to resolve the issue.

Residents and businesses in the HA8, WD6, WD7, and NW7 postcode areas may experience reduced water supply during this period. An Affinity Water spokesperson reported, “Our technician on site has managed to make adjustments to the pipework, so all customers should be back on supply, but at a lower water pressure. Our teams are constantly monitoring the water pressure on the network, and it is rising.”

Avoiding Water Usage

In light of the ongoing situation, local residents have been advised to refrain from using water-intensive appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers until the issue is fully resolved. This precaution aims to alleviate pressure on the water supply system and expedite the restoration process.

Traffic conditions in the area are currently challenging, with slow-moving vehicles reported up to the A41 from the M1, as well as diversion routes via Brockley Hill. Additionally, bus routes 107 and 142 are being rerouted away from the affected area to manage the disruption.
