Government Announces Exciting Official Partners for COP31 Pavilion

This year’s COP31 UK Pavilion has brought together some of the foremost clean energy and digital technology enterprises in the United Kingdom as its official partners.

National Grid and SSE have been steadfast partners of the UK Pavilion since COP26 in Glasgow, while Octopus Energy joined as a sponsor at COP28. Notably, Kraken Technologies has been welcomed as a new addition to the COP31 partnership roster.

On 15 October, all four partners convened with Katie White, the Minister for Climate Transition, to explore collaborative strategies for accelerating the clean energy transition, as well as to identify actionable outcomes for COP31.

The sponsorship of the Pavilion not only alleviates costs for taxpayers but also provides these companies an invaluable platform to showcase how British expertise, investment, and innovation can drive the energy transition effectively.

Showcasing British Climate Leadership

Throughout the duration of COP31, the UK Pavilion will host a series of panel discussions, roundtable forums, and networking receptions, all aimed at highlighting Britain’s leadership in climate action. These events will bring together representatives from governments, businesses, and civil society, united in the mission to transform ambitious plans into tangible results.

COP31 is set to take place from 9 to 20 November 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye, with the UK Pavilion operational for the entire duration of the conference.

Devrim Celal, Chief Flexibility and Marketing Officer, stated, “Kraken began in the UK and now supports utilities globally, managing over 10 GW of flexibility—equivalent to the capacity of six large coal-fired power stations—without the necessity for additional infrastructure. Electrification is central to our ambition of making a significant positive impact on the environment, and maximising the efficiency of the existing grid is equally vital. We are honoured to be an Official Partner of the UK Pavilion at COP31 and to collaborate with the UK government to demonstrate how British technology can expedite the global energy transition.”

National Grid’s Commitment to Energy Infrastructure

National Grid stands as a leading energy provider in both the UK and the US, offering essential infrastructure that ensures safe, reliable, and affordable energy. The company is making substantial investments in its networks to connect new sources of generation, thereby facilitating electrification and addressing increasing demand to foster growth and job creation.

Claire Lund, Chief Sustainability Officer, remarked, “Energy networks are pivotal in delivering secure and affordable energy while bolstering economic growth and job creation. As economies move towards electrification and demand increases, international partnerships become crucial. COP31 presents a significant opportunity to share practical solutions, learn collaboratively, and expedite progress. National Grid is proud to support the UK Pavilion and contribute our expertise.”

Octopus Energy’s Role in the Future of Clean Energy
