This statement serves to inform the public about the latest developments in the ongoing investigation by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) concerning an incident involving a Robinson Helicopters R44 II, registered as G-OCLV. The accident took place on 25 August 2025, at Shanklin Road on the Isle of Wight.
At the time of the incident, the aircraft was engaged in a trial lesson. Shortly after taking off from Isle of Wight/Sandown Airfield, it lost controlled flight and tragically collided with the ground near the A3020. Of the four individuals on board, three sustained fatal injuries, while the fourth occupant was left with serious injuries.
