A different approach to wellbeing in South London: inside Aneta Opara’s personalised reflexology practice

What began as a family connection to reflexology in Poland in the 1990s has grown into an established South London practice offering a wide range of reflexology techniques, shaped by more than two decades of training and a commitment to personalised care.

For Aneta Opara, reflexology began as something personal long before it became professional. Almost three decades ago, in the second half of the 1990s, reflexology entered her family life through her mother, who was among the early graduates of the Polish Institute of Reflexology in Poland.

What began as something experienced within the family gradually became something Aneta wanted to understand for herself. That early connection would eventually lead to formal training, professional certification and, in 2013, the establishment of her own practice, Therapeutic Reflexology Aneta Opara.

More than a decade later, the practice has grown to offer a broad range of reflexology treatments from locations in Wallington and Ewell. Yet the principle at its centre remains remarkably consistent: wellbeing is personal, and the way people are cared for should be too.

From personal experience to professional expertise

Aneta’s journey into reflexology was not a matter of completing a single course and opening a treatment room. Her professional development has taken place over many years and across different areas of the discipline.

In 2003, she completed training in face and head reflexology with the Polish-Canadian Reflexology Group. Further professional development followed, including training with renowned German reflexologist Hanne Marquardt in 2011. In 2012, Aneta became a fully certified reflexologist through the Polish Institute of Reflexology, and in 2016 she undertook further training in fertility reflexology in London.

This breadth of training is reflected in the practice today. Rather than concentrating exclusively on traditional foot reflexology, Aneta’s work encompasses reflexology of the feet, hands, face and head, alongside other specialist approaches.

Her professional background also extends beyond reflexology itself. Aneta holds a master’s degree in pedagogy, a field encompassing psychology as well as approaches and techniques for working with children. While pedagogy and reflexology are distinct disciplines, the skills developed through her academic background provide a valuable foundation for working with people: understanding individual needs, communicating effectively and adapting an approach according to the person in front of you.

Those principles are particularly relevant to a practice centred on personalised wellbeing.

No one-size-fits-all approach

For Aneta, the breadth of reflexology is important because no two clients arrive with exactly the same needs. Her practice is built around adapting sessions to the individual rather than treating reflexology as a standard, one-format experience.

That personalised approach begins with a client’s first appointment. Every new client starts with a foot reflexology session, which includes a consultation. This provides an opportunity to understand the individual before subsequent treatments are considered.

The approach is not simply about choosing a treatment from a menu. It is about creating a space in which the person receiving the treatment is given time and attention.

That emphasis on the individual runs through the practice’s wider philosophy. Reflexology is presented as a complementary approach to relaxation and general wellbeing, offering people time away from the stresses and tensions of everyday life.

The practice is also clear about the role of reflexology. It is not presented as a cure or a substitute for medical care. Clients who are currently receiving medical treatment are advised to consult their GP before arranging a reflexology appointment.

A treatment programme that goes beyond the feet

While foot reflexology provides the starting point for new clients, Aneta’s practice encompasses considerably more than one form of treatment.

Foot reflexology remains central to the practice, with the initial appointment including consultation and lasting 60 minutes. Follow-up foot reflexology sessions are also available for 60 minutes.

For clients looking for an alternative to treatments centred on the feet, the practice also offers face and head reflexology. This is an area with particular significance in Aneta’s professional journey, having first completed her training in the technique more than 20 years ago.

Hand and nail reflexology provides another option, also offered as a 60-minute treatment. The practice additionally offers Balanced Reflexology, a longer 90-minute session, as well as a 25-minute Lymphatic Drainage Dien Chan treatment based on the Vietnamese Facial Multireflexology Method.

The variety of treatments means that reflexology within the practice is not confined to a single technique or experience. Instead, Aneta has developed a programme that reflects the range of training she has undertaken throughout her career.

Continuing to develop the practice

Aneta’s professional development has not stopped with the qualifications she gained earlier in her career.

Her training in fertility reflexology in London in 2016 added another specialist area to her knowledge. She is also the creator of the Maternity Line Technique, which she presented at the LEX21 International Conference organised by Mauricio Kruchik in January 2021.

The development of her own technique is an example of how Aneta’s practice has continued to evolve rather than remaining fixed around the training she completed at the beginning of her career.

Alongside her training, Aneta is a full member of both the Association of Reflexologists and the Polish Institute of Reflexology.

Together, her professional memberships, academic background and continuing education reflect a practice built on a combination of experience and ongoing learning.

Growing locally: from Wallington to Ewell

Aneta established Therapeutic Reflexology Aneta Opara in 2013, and the practice has since developed an established presence in South London.

The Wallington practice is located at 267 Stafford Road, Wallington, Sutton, serving clients from Wallington, Sutton, Epsom, Croydon, Mitcham and surrounding areas.

More recently, the practice has expanded to Ewell Village, with a second location at 2–3 Ewell House Parade, Epsom Road, High Street, Ewell, Epsom. Treatments have been available there since June 2026, with appointments currently offered on Tuesdays between 9am and 6pm.

The addition of Ewell gives clients in the Sutton and Epsom area another opportunity to access Aneta’s practice while allowing her to continue building on more than a decade of professional work.

A practice built around the individual

What began in the 1990s as a family introduction to reflexology has since developed into a practice spanning more than a decade of professional work, multiple reflexology disciplines and two South London locations.

Yet the story of Therapeutic Reflexology Aneta Opara is ultimately less about the number of treatments on offer than about the thinking behind them.

Aneta’s career has brought together personal experience, extensive training, academic knowledge and continued professional development. Her approach combines this background with a simple principle: the person receiving the treatment should remain at the centre of it.

For Aneta, that means recognising that wellbeing is not a one-size-fits-all concept. Different people may seek different experiences, and each appointment provides an opportunity to create time and space tailored to the individual.

Almost three decades after reflexology first became part of Aneta’s family life, that personal connection has grown into an established South London practice — one that continues to develop while remaining grounded in the same idea that started the journey: taking time to care for the individual.
