New Recruitment Drive Draws Inspiration from Officers’ Real-Life Experiences

New Recruitment Drive Draws Inspiration from Officers' Real Life Experiences

Developed in collaboration with serving officers, the latest campaign centres on their personal experiences, emphasising the diverse roles, responsibilities, and perspectives that define their identities both within and beyond the realm of policing.

By utilising the voices and narratives of officers themselves, the initiative illustrates that policing is merely one facet of their existence. It highlights the various experiences and circumstances that have shaped their careers and lives. The campaign seeks to provide potential applicants with an authentic glimpse into life at the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) while also challenging preconceived notions about who can thrive in the field of policing.

Attracting Diverse Talent

This initiative is part of the Constabulary’s broader efforts to attract skilled individuals from a wide array of backgrounds and experiences. Dani Whiting, Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, remarked, “Our people are our greatest strength, and this new recruitment brand provides them with the platform to share their own stories.”

Whiting further expressed the desire for individuals from all walks of life to envision themselves within the CNC, conveying that a career here encompasses much more than just the specific duties carried out. “This launch transcends mere candidate attraction; it reflects our dedication to inclusion, opportunity, and fostering a culture where everyone can flourish,” she stated.

Commitment to Inclusion

Assistant Chief Constable Kerry Smith underscored the significance of the new recruitment branding, noting its alignment with the Constabulary’s ongoing cultural initiatives. He stated, “This continues our commitment to building a more inclusive, representative, and high-performing organisation.”

One officer, who chose to participate in the campaign, shared their motivation for doing so, highlighting the empathy and support they received from the organisation during a particularly challenging phase in their personal life. “I was experiencing a tough and stressful time at home and was met with nothing but understanding from the CNC. When the chance to give back presented itself, I didn’t hesitate,” they explained.

Challenging Stereotypes in Policing

Another officer expressed a desire to challenge common assumptions surrounding policing careers, emphasising that colleagues can successfully navigate their professional journeys even as personal circumstances evolve. “Life can sometimes take an unexpected turn. The CNC supported me when my situation changed, and I wanted to showcase the understanding that exists here and share that experience with others,” they shared.

The campaign is set to be implemented across various recruitment advertising platforms, social media channels, career content, and candidate communications in the forthcoming months.
