Exciting New Youth Hub Launches in Luton to Empower Young People in Their Career Journey

Exciting New Youth Hub Launches in Luton to Empower Young People in Their Career Journey

Introduction of New Youth Hub in Luton

A new Youth Hub in Luton, operating from Monday to Friday, will provide a range of essential services including CV advice, skills training, mental health support, housing assistance, and careers guidance, all under one roof. This initiative comes in response to the pressing issue of nearly one million young people in Great Britain who are currently not engaged in education, employment, or training. The establishment of Youth Hubs in every local area aims to ensure these individuals can access crucial support within their communities.

Government Investment in Youth Support

The opening of this facility aligns with a significant investment of £2.5 billion by the Government, aimed at ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to either earn or learn. The Youth Hub in Luton is part of this broader commitment to delivering accessible opportunities directly within local communities.

Collaboration for Comprehensive Support

Youth Hubs serve as collaborative spaces that consolidate various organisations, including Jobcentre Plus, local authority services, employers, and training providers, to offer young people aged 16 to 24 vital assistance in getting back on track. The Luton Youth Hub will be located at Arndale House, 37 The Mall, Luton LU1 2LJ, and aims to create a supportive environment tailored to the local community’s needs.

Commitment to National Youth Support Network

This initiative is part of the Government’s pledge to establish a Youth Hub in every local area across Great Britain, thereby creating a national network of support for the nearly one million young people who are disengaged from education, employment, or training.

Local Partnerships Enhancing Employment Opportunities

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions expressed that the new Youth Hub signifies a significant advancement for young people in Luton, bringing tangible support and opportunity to the heart of the community. The objective is to ensure that every young person, regardless of their background, has the chance to earn, learn, and succeed in life.

In collaboration with local partners such as Luton Borough Council, The Culture Trust, Total Wellbeing Luton, and the LBC Housing team, the Luton Youth Hub will provide tailored support that addresses the specific needs of the local economy, helping to dismantle barriers to employment and facilitate smoother pathways into the workforce.

Expansion of Youth Hubs Across Great Britain

The plan includes expanding Youth Hubs to over 360 areas throughout Great Britain within the next three years, reaching from Manchester and Salford to Dundee and Newport. This localised approach to employment support builds on the success of eight youth trailblazers across England, which are backed by £90 million and are focused on innovative methods to identify young individuals at risk of disengagement from education, employment, or training, and connecting them with suitable local training or job opportunities.

Transforming Support for Young People

These initiatives aim to revolutionise the delivery of support, moving away from a one-size-fits-all model to offer practical, personalised assistance that effectively helps young people secure employment and fosters opportunity within every community.

Youth Hubs will cater to young people aged 16 to 24, bringing together national and local partners to deliver an integrated approach to employment support. The rollout of further Youth Hubs across Great Britain will continue as part of the Government’s Youth Guarantee, ensuring comprehensive assistance for the youth population.
