16-Year-Old Boy Charged with Rape of Woman on North London Walking Trail

A 16-year-old boy has faced court proceedings following allegations of raping a woman on a footpath in Haringey. The youth is accused of assaulting the victim along Parkland Walk, which connects Finsbury Park to Highgate, at approximately 10.30pm on June 30. He is charged with three counts of rape, attempted rape, possession of a bladed article, making threats, false imprisonment, and causing actual bodily harm.

Due to his age, the teenager cannot be identified. In addition to the charges related to the incident on Parkland Walk, he is also facing charges of attempted rape and actual bodily harm linked to a separate event that occurred in Grange Grove, Canonbury, on June 28.

Upcoming Court Appearances

The young defendant appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 11, where he was remanded in custody to return to Wood Green Crown Court on August 13. Following the reporting of the incident on Parkland Walk, police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community.

Detective Inspector Warren Ingrey, who is overseeing the investigation for the Metropolitan Police, acknowledged the community’s concerns stemming from this event. He stated, “We are aware of the concern that the community will have following this incident. Police patrols have been increased in the area, and anyone with concerns is asked to speak to officers. We would also encourage any witnesses or anyone with information about what happened to please come forward as soon as possible.”

Police Response and Community Support

Officers responded to the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, establishing a cordon between Stanhope Road and Northwood Road. The woman who reported the incident is receiving support from specialist staff within the Metropolitan Police.
