CNC Triumphs at National Awards for Outstanding Occupational Health and Wellbeing Initiatives

The CNC’s commitment to fostering a proactive, evidence-based approach in supporting its officers and staff has garnered national recognition through a prestigious policing award.

Recognition at the Oscar Kilo Awards

The force has been honoured with the Occupational Health category award at the 2026 Oscar Kilo Awards, which celebrate exceptional efforts within policing aimed at enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of personnel.

CNC’s entry showcased its achievement as the second police force in the country to be awarded the Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service accreditation. This accolade reflects the force’s dedication to maintaining high standards in occupational health services, coupled with the introduction of its tailored Health Needs Assessment (HNA) programme.

Health Needs Assessment Programme

The HNA programme empowers members of the Occupational Health Safety and Wellbeing (OHWS) team to collaborate with colleagues across various divisions of the organisation. This collaboration is instrumental in gaining a comprehensive understanding of the diverse health and wellbeing requirements of employees stationed at different sites. The insights gathered are then utilised to formulate targeted action plans aimed at addressing these specific needs.

Emma Aldred, Head of OHSW, expressed her pride in receiving the award, stating, “We’re incredibly proud to have won this award. It is fantastic recognition for CNC and the work the team put in to continually developing the support we provide to our officers and staff.”

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Aldred further emphasised the force’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its services, saying, “We’re always looking at what more we can do, and this award gives us further encouragement to keep listening to our workforce, developing our services and responding to their needs.”
