An online pet supplies retailer, Funnyfuzzy Tech UK Co., Ltd, has been shut down following an investigation by the Insolvency Service. This action comes two years after its predecessor, Funnyfuzzy UK Co., Ltd, was also dissolved due to similar operational issues. Customers reported significant problems including undelivered orders, delays, poor-quality products, and difficulties in obtaining refunds.

The High Court officially wound up Funnyfuzzy Tech UK Co., Ltd on 22 September 2026. The company had been operating through the website www.funnyfuzzy.co.uk, which offered a range of pet products. Notably, this latest iteration of the business was linked to Funnyfuzzy HK Tech Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong.

An investigation revealed that the company had submitted dormant accounts, despite receiving over £6.3 million in payments between August 2023 and January 2026. When approached by investigators, the company claimed it was operating outside the UK, asserting that it did not need to comply with UK regulations. However, it was evident that the company sold products to UK residents and employed a contractor within the UK to manage customer returns.

Throughout the investigation, the company’s website displayed inconsistent information regarding its business addresses, suggesting locations in the UK, United States, China, and Hong Kong. However, investigators found no evidence of the company at its registered London address. Customers had lodged numerous complaints with the Insolvency Service, Action Fraud, and Trading Standards, highlighting a range of issues from non-delivery of goods to inadequate customer service.

A Pattern of Deceptive Business Practices

Complaints concerning Funnyfuzzy Tech UK Co., Ltd included items not being delivered, significant delivery delays, and poor-quality products. There were also reports of refunds not being processed and a lack of effective customer support. Investigators noted that the company frequently altered the information displayed on its website, such as changing company names and addresses, which further obscured customer engagement.

The previous entity, Funnyfuzzy UK Co., Ltd, was dissolved in 2024 following a similar investigation. Mark George, Chief Investigator at the Insolvency Service, commented on the matter, stating that the operators of this company appeared to disregard UK company laws in their pursuit of profit, showing little regard for consumer welfare.

George emphasised the Insolvency Service’s commitment to preventing such businesses from continuing their operations under new names after previous closures. He noted that the transfer of website ownership can complicate the closure process, but the Insolvency Service will persist in collaboration with relevant partners to disrupt these misleading trading practices. This latest action serves as a warning to others considering similar operations, affirming that the authorities are vigilant and will conduct thorough investigations.
