The Minister for Housing and Local Government, Baroness Taylor OBE, has announced the extension of Neil Sachdev’s tenure as Chair of the HM Land Registry Board for an additional four years. This decision aims to maintain the continuity of experienced leadership within the organisation.

Commitment to Strategy 2025+

Neil Sachdev MBE, the Chair of HM Land Registry, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing in his role, highlighting the importance of supporting the organisation in achieving the objectives outlined in its Strategy 2025+, which was published last year. He remarked, “I am delighted and proud to be continuing in my role as Chair of the HM Land Registry and supporting the organisation and Board in further delivering our Strategy 2025+.”

He emphasised the critical role the Land Registry plays in advancing government objectives and enhancing the property market experience for all stakeholders involved. Sachdev reiterated the core values of the organisation: integrity, innovation, professionalism, and assurance. “Since being appointed in 2022, I have seen how these values have informed our focus on serving our customers, enabling trusted data, supporting investment, and helping communities grow,” he added.

Recognition of Team Efforts

Expressing pride in the dedication of his team, Sachdev acknowledged the remarkable efforts of the over 7,000 professionals at HM Land Registry. He praised their commitment to improving services and prioritising customer needs, stating, “I’ve been delighted with the determined effort of our expert colleagues to improve our service and with their willingness to truly engage with our customers.” He credited their professionalism as central to the significant advancements made in recent times and conveyed his eagerness to continue working alongside such a dedicated team to address current challenges and seize future opportunities.

Support from Leadership

Iain Banfield, the Chief Executive and Chief Land Registrar of HM Land Registry, also recognised Sachdev’s contributions. He stated, “Neil has brought a wealth of leadership experience, insight, business acumen and constructive challenge to HM Land Registry.” Banfield acknowledged the importance of extending Sachdev’s appointment until 2030, viewing it as a crucial moment for the organisation that ensures stability as it works towards delivering the aims of Strategy 2025+ amidst significant organisational transformation.

Furthermore, Banfield highlighted Sachdev’s passion for the public purpose of the organisation and his commitment to enhancing customer service. He noted that Sachdev is a strong advocate for fostering a thriving work environment for staff, which is essential for ensuring that the best work is produced. “I know his leadership and support will help guide us through this next stage in our history,” he concluded, underscoring the importance of collaboration across government and industry to improve the property market for all.
