A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has expressed strong support for Germany in the wake of Russia’s alarming and reckless assault on Leipzig airport.
Solidarity with NATO Allies
The spokesperson affirmed the UK’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding NATO allies and providing unwavering support to Ukraine, describing this commitment as “ironclad.” They emphasised that any efforts by Russia to destabilise the collective resolve of the West are destined to fail. This incident is viewed as part of a broader trend of actions by the Russian State aimed at undermining collective security.
Condemnation of Hostile Actions
In response to the attack, the UK summoned the Russian Chargé d’Affaires to deliver a robust condemnation of the incident. The spokesperson reiterated the importance of collaboration with European and NATO partners, underscoring that the UK will persist in exposing and addressing Russian hostile activities on all fronts.
