Celebrating a Decade of British Heritage: British Week 2026 in Paraguay

The British Embassy in Asunción is thrilled to announce the upcoming British Week, celebrating a decade of diplomatic presence in Paraguay, from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 August 2026.

This special anniversary edition of British Week promises a series of events that showcase British excellence across various fields, including gastronomy, literature, education, business, music, academia, and culture. The initiative aims to further elevate the profile of the United Kingdom within Paraguay.

Event Highlights and Schedule

Below is the detailed calendar of events planned for this week-long celebration, featuring a diverse array of activities designed to engage and entertain.

Throughout the week, enjoy a traditional Full English Breakfast and Afternoon Tea at all Urbano Café locations, alongside a British-style beer and menu offered at Sacramento Brewing Co. Attendees can also admire a selection of British cars, motorbikes, and products, as well as an exhibit dedicated to the renowned Sir David Attenborough at Casa Rica Molas López and Los Laureles. Participants are encouraged to complete their “Fish and Chips Passport” at designated venues to enter a special raffle at the week’s conclusion, with British culinary experiences available at El Dorado, Sacramento Brewing Co., Puerto Pira, Aurelia Brew Pub, and Casa Rica (Los Laureles and Molas López).

Additionally, the Embassy will host raffles and prizes through its social media channels, including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

11:30 hrs: “Women, Corsairs, Friars and Guarani Leaders: Unknown Stories of the British Isles in Paraguay during the 16th Century.” A presentation by Dr. Guillaume Candela from Cardiff University. Venue details to be confirmed upon prior registration. This event is free of charge, but pre-registration is necessary.

15:30 hrs: A Celebration of British Music at Feria Palmear (Palma corner Chile, opposite the Pantheon of the Heroes). Open access and free of charge.

Sunday, 16 August

09:00 – 15:00 hrs: British Brunch at Palmaroga (Palma 853, between Ayolas and Montevideo). Open access with limited capacity; reservations can be made at 0982571541 for the “Fishaport” event.
