A tragic incident in Lewisham has resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy following a collision on Manor Lane. Emergency services were alerted to the scene at 14:22 on Thursday, 9 July, after reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, the young boy was transported to hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries three days later, on Sunday, 12 July.
In the wake of this devastating event, the boy’s family is receiving support from specialist officers to help them through this difficult time. An 18-year-old male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He has since been released on bail while further investigations are conducted.
Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Detectives are actively seeking information from the public regarding the incident and are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses dashcam footage of a white Range Rover Evoque in the vicinity of Manor Lane at the time. Detective Sergeant Rob Harris, who is spearheading the investigation, expressed his condolences to the victim’s family, stating, “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family following this heartbreaking incident. My team and I continue to work at pace to understand what happened.”
