Capri Sun Issues Recall on Mislabelled Sugar Free Packs: What You Need to Know

Capri-Sun UK has announced the recall of certain batches of its popular soft drink due to a labelling error that incorrectly suggests the products are sugar-free. The renowned children’s beverage brand revealed that specific packs of Capri-Sun Orange, particularly the 10-packs sold throughout Northern Ireland, were mislabelled as Capri-Sun Orange Zero, even though they do indeed contain sugar.

Details of the Recall

The affected items include Capri-Sun Orange 10x200ml multipacks identified by batch codes L104, L105, and L106, all of which bear a best before date of April 1, 2027. This miscommunication poses a significant risk for consumers who monitor their sugar intake, such as those managing type 2 diabetes.

In a statement released through the Food Standards Agency, Matthew Done, the managing director of Capri-Sun UK, advised: “If you have purchased a 10-pack Capri-Sun Orange with one of the above batch numbers and a best before date of April 2027, do not consume the product if you are a consumer who is dependent on sugar content.” He continued to urge affected customers to return the product to the retailer from which it was bought for a full refund, emphasising that no receipt is necessary for the return.

Consumer Safety Measures

Capri-Sun UK is taking proactive steps to ensure consumer safety and compliance with food labelling regulations. The company is committed to addressing the issue swiftly and effectively, underscoring its dedication to quality and transparency.

For customers who may have inadvertently purchased the affected products, the company encourages vigilance in checking batch codes and best before dates. This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of accurate labelling in the food and beverage industry, particularly for products aimed at children and those with dietary restrictions.
